WXY - Web Tools and Urban Analysis
Sept 2024 - Present
In my role as an Urban Analyst at WXY, I sit at the intersection of urban planning and design, using data and analysis tools to both communicate and engage the community. A large portion of work is devoted to the development of webtools and sites for a variety of clients including school districts and citizen oversight organizations. The development process takes the tools from wireframing and ideation all the way to launch and continued maintenance. Throughout the projects, feedback from clients and end users are constantly considered and features are re-evaluated to fit changing needs. On the analysis side, a large focus is on using geospatial and tabular data from a variety of sources to create narratives and support proposed strategies and plans. Commonly used tools include Python, Jupyter Notebooks, GitHub, and QGIS - the analysis team supports the work of others across the firm from planning to urban design.
